Tax Credit Cuts
Monday 26 Oct was a historic day – for the first time in 100 years the House of Lords defied the government by passing amendments to delay the implementation of their planned tax credit cuts by three years and to first carry out consultation.
X by X is delighted that the plans to cut tax credits have been challenged in this way. Within Bromley the cuts to Working Tax Credits would severely reduce the incomes of Disabled people in low paid work because while the disability premium will be protected under the government’s plans, Disabled people would still be negatively impacted by other proposed measures.
We would like to thank Baroness Jane Campbell for raising our concerns in the House of Lords debate. For more information about how the government’s proposals would impact on Disabled people see the Inclusion London briefing http://bit.ly/1imLpvv
