Mayor re-opens garden at Lewis House Independenct Living Centre
We re-opened the garden at our offices at the Lewis House independent living centre in Beckenham on Tuesday 26th June after a ten-week makeover. The Mayor of Bromley Cllr Kim Botting officially opened the garden which was transformed as part of a therapeutic project for people with mental health impairments.
The opening day was a great success – the sun was appropriately shining. Lots of people came to see the new garden including local councillors Vanessa Allen and Ian Dunn. Those attending watched a short film documenting the project, chatted about gardening with participants and donated in return for some of the plants that had been grown from seed during the project.
The project was funded by Partners in Health and the Tesco Bags of Help scheme and was run in association with Battersea based therapeutic gardening experts Thrive. It has returned the garden space to a useful community resource which XbyX plan to make available to other groups who could benefit from spending time in the space.
