Bromley’s Disability Pride event is set to return on Sunday 2nd December, 2.30pm till 4.30pm at the Bromley Civic Centre (Great Hall) Click here for the front flier  and back of flier

This is thanks to a grant from Clarion Futures and Clarion Housing Group. This follows the great success of the first Bromley Disability Pride in 2017 – where top comedian Laurence Clark performed alongside local disabled performers.

Local disabled people’s organisation and organisers of Disability Pride XbyX had great feedback from the performers and audience last year and have been working to meet the demand for the event to become an annual fixture.

Bromley Disability Pride will again be held during UK Disability History Month. The event is a celebration of disability aiming to encourage disabled people to express their identity positively and to help break down the stigma attached to disability.

The celebration event will include a section giving disabled people a platform to showcase their individual and collective talents (if you have a talent and would like to be part of the event please email barry@xbyxbromley.com)

Barry McDonald, project co-ordinator from XbyX said: “It’s really great to be putting on Disability Pride for the second time in Bromley – it can really help as a showcase for a positive understanding of disability. Thank you to Clarion Housing and Clarion Futures for supporting the 2018 event.”

“Clarion Housing Group has a strong track record of supporting and celebrating our staff and residents with disabilities, as a Disability Confident Employer”, commented Sandra Sanglin, Clarion’s Head of Corporate Responsibility, “which is why we are delighted to support XbyX in putting on Disability Pride 2018.  With a strong local presence in Bromley as an employer and Landlord, Clarion fully supports the aims of the event in developing the future generation of disabled people in the local community.”

Magpie Dance who will be returning at this year’s event said: “Our Magpie Adult Choreographers will be exclusively performing extracts from a wider rep of pieces marking the centenary of the First World War.  Last year’s Disability Pride event was a huge success empowering disabled people to celebrate who they are, and we are honoured to be invited back”
